Effective 2026–2027 Season

Xtra Soccer Academy would like to inform our families of an important national change to youth soccer age group formation.

After extensive review and collaboration, US Youth Soccer (USYS), AYSO, and US Club Soccer have approved a new age group formation cycle beginning with the 2026–2027 season.

New Age Group Formation Cycle

Starting in the 2026–2027 season, youth soccer age groups will follow an:

August 1 – July 31 formation cycle

This change is designed to better align players with their school-grade peers and create a more consistent development pathway across the country.

What This Means for Xtra Soccer Academy Families

Over the coming months, we will provide clear communication about how this change may affect:

• Team placements

• Tryouts

• Player age group eligibility
